    The Integrated Multidisciplinary Graduate Program is composed of ten different multidisciplinary tracks that reflect contemporary research in the biomedical sciences.
  • Molecular Medicine
    Students are trained in the use of molecular biological approaches for investigating biomedical questions associated with human diseases.
  • Radiological Sciences
    Students are trained in the use of radiant energy to understand and modify biological processes.
  • Biomedical Engineering
    Students are trained in the principles of biomedical engineering to develop new approaches for the treatment of human diseases.
  • Translational Science
    Students are trained to lead multi-disciplinary biomedical research teams in bench-to-bedside or bedside-to-community translational research. The TS PhD is a new, joint degree program among four UT institutions.

A Greeting From The Dean

Dean Weiss Welcome, you have arrived at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) in the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio (UTHSCSA). In the GSBS, our two major missions, and passions, are Research and Education. For the former, we carry out cutting edge, basic and translational science, from the molecular to the integrative, in an effort to understand human function in health and disease. In the latter, we have developed programs designed to train the next generation of scientists and educators in the biomedical sciences. Whether its the new state-of-the art, one hundred and ninety thousand square foot South Texas Research Facility slated for occupancy in November 2011, one of our premier academic programs such as the new revolutionary Integrated Multidisciplinary Graduate Program, or one of our many intensive undergraduate summer research experiences we invite you to peruse this site and learn more.
