RESEARCH

Our long-term goal is to understand the biological function and pathological dysfunction of the multiprotein RNA polymerase II transcriptional Mediator, a central integrator, processor, and transducer of regulatory information that converges on eukaryotic protein-coding genes. We aim to leverage our growing knowledge of its working biochemistry to understand how genetic variation in its constituent subunits elicits unit dysfunction, leading to neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disease as well as cancer. We employ a combination of biochemical, molecular, and cell biological approaches, as well as animal models, to achieve these aims.
