WISDOM members and supporters,
Thanks so much to those of you who attended our launch event! I'm so thrilled with the level of enthusiasm and positive feedback I have received for this group! It is important that you know you must attend (and sign in at) at least two meetings or events per semester to retain membership.
Our upcoming events include:
- Job shadow day, February 2nd – a few WISDOM volunteers will be looking at tissue slices under microscopes with high school students.
- WISDOM Breakfast Club (flyer attached) Thursday, February 9th from 9-10am in the Howe conference room (LIB 5.070). This event is open to all students and post docs (not just WISDOM members) so invite your friends! We will have breakfast and have an open discussion about issues we are currently facing as woman scientists.
Finally, I am calling for nominations for Vice President, Secretary, and Outreach Chair. To be eligible, you must be a student in the GSBS. Descriptions of what each position entails are attached. Keep in mind that being in one of these positions will require attendance at general meetings and events as well as executive committee meetings. Let me know if you are interested or know another WISDOM member who might be!
We will take a vote on these positions at a quick student members-only election immediately following the Breakfast Club. Please plan to attend!
Again, thanks so much for your interest in and support of WISDOM!
