San Antonio is often referred to as "Military City USA." Our city has been home to a consistent military presence for nearly 300 years and is home to one of the largest active and retired military populations in the country. As researchers and members of the healthcare industry in San Antonio, we must be acutely aware of the impact of our work on our nation’s military population.
UTHSCSA has built strong collaborations with the VA and DOD, here in San Antonio, and is working very hard to grow these relationships. As a part of these efforts the institution has founded the Military Health Institute. Dr. Byron Hepburn, a former commander of the 59th Medical Wing, Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, was named director of the institute effective October 2014. Learn more about Dr. Hepburn and the newly founded Military Health Institute Here.
Dr. Hepburn is wishing to encourage attendance to this exciting program for trainees (Click Here). The Military Health Interest Group will provide networking opportunities for trainees across UTHSCSA with local professionals highlighting the essence of military health in San Antonio.
