Two recent Master in Science in Dental Hygiene grads, Ruth Conn and Brian Partido presented at the American Dental Education Association Conference from March 18-21 in Long Beach, CA.
"Their degrees helped them hold or improve their employment in education," said Melanie Taverna, director of Online Dental Hygiene Graduate Programs. "Also they continue to be active in research."
About The Grads
Brian Partido, MS, RDH is an Assistant Professor-tenure track in the Division of Dental Hygiene College of Dentistry at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He graduated with his Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio in 2014. His current research includes ergonomics and self-assessment, calibration, and the implant microbiome. He presented a research poster at the 2017 ADEA Annual Conference in Long Beach, CA and was awarded a fellowship to the 2017 ADEA Allied Dental Faculty Leadership Development Program in Baltimore, MD.
Ruth E. Conn, RDH, MSDH, is an assistant professor in the Dental Hygiene Program of the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD). Prior to joining the UTSD faculty in 2012, she practiced clinical dental hygiene for 34 years, working in family and pediatric offices.
Mrs. Conn graduated from UTSD in 1978 with a certificate in dental hygiene. She earned a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene from UTSD in 2011, and in 2015 completed a master's degree through The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Mrs. Conn is clinic coordinator, teaching clinical and clinical seminar courses and also presents continuing-education courses. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the American Dental Education Association. Mrs. Conn has served as secretary for the Greater Houston Dental Hygienists' Society from 2014-2016.
In 2016, UTSD dental hygiene students chose her as winner of the Lorna J. Bruning Award for Outstanding Teaching.
