The Voelcker Biosciences Teacher Academy is looking for scientists to fill registration and room facilitator slots at the VBTA 7th Annual Spring Conference on Saturday, Feb 4 at UT Health San Antonio. This is slated to be the biggest conference the VBTA has had to date!
We are still in need of 9 more Workshop Facilitators and 2 or 3 people to help with Registration.
See below for a description of each position:
Registration table duties:
-We will have lists of registrants divided by alphabetical order.
-Ask Registrants to initial next to their name and complete a Talent Release form.
-Collect the Talent Release form while registrant is at the at the registration table.
-Upon collecting form, hand registrants a "goodie bag" and a conference folder.
Workshop Facilitator Duties:
-Each workshop room will have labeled folders for each workshop session (Session A, Session B, Session C, and Session D).
-Set out sign-in sheet (ensure each person signs in)
-Ensure room capacity is not exceeded
-Make any corresponding speaker handouts available to participants (Note: Handouts can simply be placed near sign in sheet so participants can pick them up as they enter room.)
-During the final 5 minutes, the facilitator is to hand out workshop evaluations and collect them before participants leave the room.
Place materials (sign in sheet, remaining handouts, and completed evaluations) back into the corresponding session folder.
Even if you're not presenting at the conference, this is a great opportunity to watch fellow students present and see how they approach a Q & A session and practice your team facilitation skills.
With that said, we understand you are busy and your time is valuable. In return for your assistance, we will also provide you with breakfast and lunch and a certificate reflecting your support of the VBTA which can be used to support your CV/resume.
Thanks for considering the VBTA! Please contact us with any questions.
