You may have heard people claim that every time a new iPhone is released, the old phone seems to slow down. Is this a conspiracy by Apple (planned obsolescence) or just a perception problem? Sendhil Mullainathan, a professor of economics at Harvard, attacked this conundrum using big data. This is a very interesting lesson on the power, and limitations, of big data.
