Congratulations to Ngoni Madungwe who has been awarded an American Heart Association (AHA) Predoctoral Fellowship to support his graduate training in cardiovascular research.
Ngoni is a third year Ph.D. student in the Joint Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering between UT Health San Antonio and UTSA.
His research under this fellowship will investigate pathways and novel therapeutics to treat cardiovascular disease by minimizing the damage that occurs following a heart attack.
Ngoni works in Dr. Jean Bopassa’s cardiovascular research lab in the Department of Cellular & Integrative Physiology, and he will be co-mentored by Dr. Bopassa and Dr. Glenn Toney for this AHA fellowship.
Read an article about his research, "In Search of Cures to Mend Broken Hearts."
