The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) is setting aside
funds to help support travel to national and international meetings for all
graduate students enrolled in a GSBS graduate program. A maximum of $1,500
dollars will be provided to help supplement travel. Two students selected by
the GSBS Award Committee will be awarded each term. The deadlines for
applications are October 1, February 1 and June 1 of each year. For more
information on criteria and eligibility go to our website at: http://gsbs.uthscsa.edu/current_students/scholarships1
Also available are department specific travel awards. We are happy to congratulate Nathan Mitchell, the 2014 recipient of the Physiology
Graduate Student Travel Award. Nathan attended the Society for Serotonin
Research Conference in West Cape South Africa in July 2014. He says, “The
funding gave me the opportunity to network with many world renowned leaders in serotonin research. This was an experience of a lifetime”.
Other program specific opportunities for travel awards are
available in the departments of Microbiology & Immunology and Pharmacology.
