On Thursday, Nov. 2, a special doubleheader Ewing Halsell Distinguished Lecture highlights resilience in the face of mental health challenges. Please register for these free events at

Psychiatrist Gail Saltz, M.D., author of "The Power of Different: The Link Between Disorder and Genius," speaks from noon to 1 p.m. She profiles famous geniuses diagnosed with ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder and more, presenting evidence that such conditions are often tied to hard-wired strengths.

Concert pianist/psychiatrist Richard Kogan, M.D., is renowned for piano concert-lectures exploring how mental illness influenced famous composers. From 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., he will present on how Frédéric Chopin responded to extreme psychological challenges by constructively applying his musical genius.
