We are excited to host this year’s South Regional Meeting, which will include several keynote scientific and career development talks, student poster presentations from many different institutions and departments, and hot-topic break-out sessions. Please come join the fun this coming January! If you have any questions, please contact Raehannah Jamshidi, Ph.D., at email@example.com.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone interested in biomedical research is invited to attend. In particular, MD/PhD students, DO/PhD students, MD or DO students, PhD students, residents, undergraduates and high school students interested in medicine and biomedical research are encouraged to participate.
Registration will be available on this site until January 10th, 2018. You are not required to have an APSA account for registration. For problems or issues with registration please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
FREE FOR ALL REGISTRANTS. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is committed to having all interested students attend the conference without the extra burden of registration costs. Regardless or whether or not you are an APSA member, there will be no registration fees for this conference.
The APSA regional meeting will highlight and reward the outstanding achievements of our undergraduate, graduate and medical student researchers. We encourage all residents, high school, medical, graduate and undergraduate students attending the meeting to submit an abstract. Please submit your abstract as early as possible to ensure the best chance for it to be selected for an oral presentation. The top presentations will be recognized.
TO SUBMIT: Click here to download the submission form, and send it completed to email@example.com.
Deadline: January 10, 2018
Eligibility: Any attendee to the APSA South Regional Meeting is encouraged to submit an abstract proposing a poster and/or oral presentation.
Abstract Guidelines: Please limit the abstract to 500 words, excluding title, authors, and affiliations. List the presenting author first. Please include the purpose, methods, results, and a discussion/conclusion. Define abbreviations the first time they appear. References are not necessary for abstract submission.
Please note that the Abstract Book may be made available online prior to the conference.
Presentation Type: Applicants may indicate if they wish to be considered for a poster presentation, oral presentation, or both. Only the top abstracts will be selected for oral presentations. Applicants giving an oral presentation will also have the opportunity to present a poster. Applicants will be notified in January the type(s) of presentations they have been selected for.
Oral Presentations: The top abstracts will be selected for oral presentations. Presenters will have 5 minutes to present the highlights of their work. These presentations should focus on the overall impact of the research and should emphasize “the big picture” of the findings. Presentations will be judged on impact, innovation, and clarity. Top presenters will be awarded prizes.
Poster Presentations: Posters must fit on a 4’x6’ size presentation board. Presentations will be judged on impact, innovation, and clarity. Top presenters will be awarded prizes.
The meeting is sponsored by the M.D./Ph.D. Combined Degree Program at UT Health San Antonio. Special thanks to APSA National for financial and planning support.
