IntuiTap Medical just won the 2017 Texas A&M New Ventures Competition and were awarded $50K! Xavier, a UT Health SA alum, is listed among the company's founders. The company was spun out of the Texas Medical Center's Biodesign Innovation fellowship.
Xavier Garcia-Rojas is currently the Chief Medical Officer at IntuiTap Medical, Inc.. He graduated from UTHSCSA with a Ph.D. in Radiological Sciences in 2011.
Dr. Larry Miller, who also has ties to UT Health San Antonio, is an advisor to the company. Dr. Miller founded Vidacare, a startup up that was acquired by Teleflex in 2012 and yielded close to $3M to the university in the acquisition deal.
While at UT Health San Antonio, Garcia-Rojas was a member of the Nanoimaging and Theranostic lab, led by Dr. William Phillips and Dr. Beth Goins. His doctoral thesis was on “Image Guided Intratumoral Therapy for Head and neck Solid Tumors.”
As a grad student, he presented (talks and posters) at multiple conferences nationally and internationally, including the AAPM Southwest chapter joint meeting in Queretaro, Mexico, The World Congress on Molecular Imaging in Providence, RI, The World Conference of Interventional Oncology in Los Angeles, CA, and The Radiological Society of North America in Chicago, Il.
